A Fistful of Paintballs

Aired 5/5/2011

Jeff (Wanted: Gay and Alive), Annie and Abed (NBC)

I’ve been neglecting Community for a while now. I haven’t written about it since last year’s stop motion animated episode. The truth is I do have a couple of drafts of some of the highlights from the second half of this season but I could never really finish them. Chalk it up to laziness. Season 2, Episode 11

It took some repeated viewings but now I’m firmly of the opinion that “Abed’s Uncontrollable Christmas” is one of the finest holiday themed episodes of TV ever made. Back in its heyday, The Office was one such show, but its decline in quality has been obvious for a few years now. Something like 30 Rock is too random and character development is spotty at best. Reviewing it, to me, would consist of writing out a list of the best lines of dialogue. If there’s one sitcom on TV right now that devotes as much time and attention to its characters as much as its jokes, it’s Community, and Thursday’s episode was a great example of that.
